Check The Object’s Weight Before You Lift It
• Test the weight of the load you’re about to lift by seeing how easily it moves with a slight push from your hands or your feet.
• A small size doesn’t always mean a light weight!

Make Sure The Load Is Balanced & Packed Correctly
• Make sure the weight is balanced and packed so it won’t move around.
• An improperly packed load can allow objects inside to shift, causing the load to become unbalanced and leading to an accident.
Safe Spine Lifting Technique
Can You Grip The Load Easily & Securely?
• Before lifting, make sure you have a firm grip on the object.
• Using handles will make lifting and carrying an object safer.

Is The Load Easy To Reach?
• Instead of reaching for something over your head, use a ladder.
• Get as close to the object as possible.
• Slide the object towards you if necessary.
• Avoid arching your back, letting your legs and arms do the majority of the work. Read more

A Turning Point in the Treatment of Low Back Pain
For decades following the inception of the chiropractic profession in 1895, Doctors of Chiropractic and Medical Doctors were often at odds with each other. It culminated in a ruling by a federal judge that the American Medical Association had engaged in an unlawful conspiracy “to contain and eliminate the chiropractic profession.” But since the 1980’s, mainstream acceptance of chiropractic has spurredMilwaukee Back Pain Doctor collaborative research efforts into the effectiveness of spinal manipulation for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Thankfully things have changed since the early days of chiropractic. Today, the AMA recommends chiropractic care as a first line of defense against low back pain. According to the Journal of the American Medical Society’s Patient Page public education initiative, spinal surgery and other invasive measures are usually unnecessary and should only be considered if chiropractic and other conservative treatments are unsuccessful.
